Q: Are bows from Jenn's Bowtique pet-safe?

A: Yes, as safe as we can make them. All of our bows are made by hand, and we do not use any toxic glues, chemicals or wires. As with any toy or pet product, it's always a good idea to supervise your pet while wearing a bow, to ensure the pet doesn't try to tear it off, chew it up, and possibly swallow parts of it. If your pet objects to having a bow in the hair, try placing it on the collar instead. If you own a new puppy, you might try soft terrycloth ponytail holders for a few days before trying to install a bow with a latex band.

Q: How do I put a bow into my dog's hair?
A: As a former groomer, I had lots of practice, and I believe everyone develops their own technique. You might ask your groomer to show you how they do it; there are some terrific how-to videos on YouTube and elsewhere on the net; and countless grooming books that have helpful information. My best advice is (a) don't try to twist the latex band around the hair too many times (this is why we use small dental latex bands - no need to wind them around more than a couple of times) , and (b) if you or the dog is getting frustrated, come back to it later.


Q: How long will it take you to process my order, and how fast will I receive my bows?
A: Orders are usually shipped within three business days of receipt. Our preferred carrier is UPS, although the postal service may be used in some circumstances (priority mail). It may take longer for your order to be fulfilled during peak holiday seasons (Easter, July 4th, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). UPS ground service usually takes 3 to 5 business days. Priority mail usually takes 3 to 7 days. In fairness to everyone, all orders are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders awaiting payment by check won't ship until the check clears our bank (this does not apply to money orders, but payments coming via the mail may slow things down).

Q: Do you accept all major credit cards?
A: Our payment processing service is PayPal, which presently accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Q: Can I request specific colors or patterns for my bows?
A: Absolutely! We often get requests for colors to coordinate with a pet's collar, leash, or "clothing". Breed clubs often purchase assortments in coordinating colors for a group of dogs they'll be showing. Some of the rescue organizations we work with request bows made with pre-printed logo ribbon that they supply to us. If you have a special request, just ask; we'll do our best to fulfill your needs.

Q: How do I know what size bandanna to buy for my dog?
A: We make sizing recommendations on the bandanna page of the site. If you're still not sure, measure the circumference of your dog's neck and call or e-mail me with the number. I can then recommend the proper size for your pet.

Q: Do you make bows with barrettes instead of latex bands?
A: Yes, by special request. If you prefer your bows be attached to a barrette instead of a latex band, please e-mail me before you order so we can determine the size needed. There is a nominal extra charge for barrettes.

Q: Do you offer a subscription ordering service?
A: At this time, we do not have a subscription (e.g., monthly) billing/shipping service set up, but are considering it if there is enough demand for it. If you wish to be placed on a regular ordering cycle - for instance, monthly or bi-monthly - just e-mail or call me and we'll set it up for you.

Q: Can I find you elsewhere on the Internet?
A: Yes. Jenn's Bowtique has a store on e-bay and regularly lists grooming bows on Etsy.
